Funeral Services for Mr. Sammy D. Newman, 62, of Milburn, Oklahoma will be held on Monday, May 14th, 2012 at 2:00 p. m. in the First Assembly of God Church in Tishomingo, Oklahoma with Brother Joel Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. Mr. Newman passed away on May 8th, at his home.

Sammy was born on January 7th,1950 in Wapanucka to Lee Roy Newman and Susie (Eaves) Newman. He attended school there and afterward, married Ruth Elizabeth Davis on March 20th, 1970 in Tishomingo. He was a reserve deputy for the Johnston County Sheriff's Department, a heavy equipment operator for Johnston County Districts #1 and #2 and owned and operated a small engine repair business. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on May 13th, 2010; two brothers, Wayne Newman and Robert Tassey and two sisters, Ethel Matthews and Rosie Matthews.

He is survived by three daughters, Jodi Marks and husband Masaki and Leonna Moore and husband Vernon, all of Tishomingo and Lisa Walters of Milburn; two brothers, Lee Roy Newman of Milburn and Odes Newman and wife Lola of Wapanucka; five sisters, Betty Henry of Moore, Oklahoma, Mary Elkins of Folsom, Oklahoma, Dorothy West of Durant, Oklahoma, Loretha Haigood of Amarillo, Texas and Martha Wallace of Coleman, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Sierra Canler, Eric Moore, Kourtni Moore, Kurt Walters and Crystal Clifton; his great-grandchildren, Miranda Moore, Elisha Canler, Gavyn Miller, and Shooter Clifton; other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Masaki Marks, Kurt Walters, Allen Dee West, Daniel Canler, Preston Newman and Kristen Davidson. Honorary Bearers will be: Vernon Moore, Gavyn Miller, Shooter Clifton, Elisha Canler, Jerry Adams and Roger Elkins.
