Funeral Services for Ruth Elizabeth Newman, 57, of Milburn will be held on
Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Family Life Worship Center with
Rev. Russell Newville officiating, assisted by Rev. Scott Barnes. Interment will
follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka. Mrs. Newman passed away on
Thursday, May 13th, in the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Ruthie was born on January 1, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joseph R. Davis
and Bessie Marie Wallar Davis. She was the first baby born in OKC that year. She
attended Tishomingo Schools into her high school years and married Sammy Newman
in March of 1970. She went onto graduate from Durant High School in 1971. She
worked as a medical clerk for the Webb Medical Clinic in Tishomingo for over 20
years. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ruthie is survived by her husband Sammy, of the home; three daughters &
sons-in-law, Jodi & Masaki Marks of Tishomingo, Leonna & Vernon Moore of
Tishomingo and Lisa Walter of Milburn; her grandchildren, Kurt Walters, Sierra
Canler, Kortne Moore, Eric Moore, and Crystal Clifton; her great-grandchildren,
Elisha Canler, Shooter Clifton and Miranda Moore; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Masaki Marks, Daniel Canler, Chuck Walters,
Odus Newman, Lee Newman and Kurt Walters. Honorary Bearers will be: Vernon
Moore, Kristen Davidson, Les Walters, Melvin Carl Matthews, Eric Moore and Allen
Dee West.
