Juanita  was the eldest daughter of Daisy Owens McRae and Andrew McRae. She was a sister to  Bill, Andrew (Bud), Wynema and Omer. She was a mother to Larry and Garry Gilchrist; Grandmother to Jerry and Clint Gilchrist and great grandmother to Clint’s two sons.

She was born in Bromide, OK on November 25th, 1924. In the early 1940’s, when she was a senior in high school, she moved to Visalia, California. She met and married her husband Loren (L.R.) Gilchrist. She and her husband raised race horses in Pleasanton, CA. and she also worked in sales for fine women’s clothing. Her youngest son Garry was a horse jockey and ran many races until his untimely death in a car accident in 1975. Her eldest son Larry worked in the oil industry and died in 2015. She suffered many losses in her lifetime including her parents, sons, husband and all of her siblings. She returned to Oklahoma in 1978 to care for her ailing parents.

She was a strong woman that spoke her mind with a quick wit that endeared her to many. She never lost her strong will or quick wit. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. When she gave you a compliment you always knew it was true. Her caregivers often referred to her as “feisty” but truth be told she was a favorite to many. She was a fierce and loyal friend to all who earned her trust.

Serving as Pallbearers will be family and friends.
