Graveside services for Joyce Beatrice (Akins) Peek, 93,
of Oklahoma City are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23,
2025, at Ravia Cemetery.
Joyce went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 17,
2025, after a long battle with congestive heart failure,
and cancer in Oklahoma City at the age of 93. She was
surrounded by family and friends.
Joyce was born in Ravia, Oklahoma on June 2nd 1932, to
the late Emmett Eugene Akins and Quinnie Beatrice (Futch)
Akins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and
father, her husband Hollis, son Steven, 6 brothers:
Thomas Eugene, Willie May, John Henry, Forest Junior,
Albert William, and Bobby Gene, and 5 sisters: Lucille,
Evelyn May, Madie Lee, Lahoma Darleen, and Virginia Ann.
Joyce grew up in Ravia, OK and had a very large family
and many friends. She graduated from Ravia High School
in 1950. Joyce married Hollis Elmore Peek after his
return from World War Il on January 23rd 1951, in
Ardmore, OK. They had two sons and moved to Jackson,
Michigan where Joyce was a housewife, and Hollis worked
as a data processing supervisor. Hollis retired in 1969
and they moved back to the family farm in
Ada,
OK. Joyce and Hollis worked the farm for many years
working in the fields and on the cattle, always
together. They were members of New Hope Lighthouse
church at Stratford, OK. Hollis was a disabled Veteran
and passed away on January 28th 2006. Joyce continued to
live on the family farm with her faithful dogs and enjoy
the life her and Hollis created together until her
health declined.
She is survived by one son Stuart and wife Carol of
Oklahoma City, OK, daughter in law Susie Peek of Ardmore
OK: 4 grandsons: Joshua and wife Shawn, Benjamin, Jeremy
and wife Leigh, and Jeffrey, 1 granddaughter Cloe, 7
great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
