Lessie Melinda Sides Murphy, age 80, of Noble passed away Wednesday December 18, 2013 at the Cedar Creek Nursing Home in Norman, Oklahoma.
She was born October 9, 1933 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
She was one of ten children born to John Emanuel Sides and Ida Lee Heath Sides.
She first lived in Tishomingo when she started to school and later moved to Sulphur where she attended the Sulphur schools.
Lessie married William Clyde Murphy in 1955 and they made their home in Sulphur. Her family had lived in Oklahoma City, Sulphur and Ardmore, and was living in Ardmore when Clyde died in 1986. After Clyde’s death, Lessie went to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Noble.
She worked as a homemaker and loved raising her children. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a pastime she like to work word search puzzles, watching old movies on TV and go camping.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Ide Lee Sides; one infant daughter; her son William Clyde Murphy, Jr; two infant sisters; three sisters: Pearline Green, Edna Tipps and Jonnie Ann Sides; and one grandchild: Jessie Spurlin.
She is survived by two daughters Margo Spurlin and husband Delton of Noble; and Bessie Wood of Noble; one son Paul Murphy of Wichita, Kansas; one brother David Sides of Texas; three sisters Marie Weaver of Sulphur; Jearline Stewart and husband James of Oklahoma City; and Judy Cain of Sulphur; eleven grandchildren, twelve great granchildren and many friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Ravia Cemetery in Ravia, Oklahoma.
