Herbert Harvey James, “Herb, age 88, passed from this life on July 14, 2020 at Southbrook Assisted Living in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Herb was born on March 1, 1932 to Willie Martin and Alma Alice (Holmes) James. He proudly served our country for a little over 21 years in the Air Force and worked as a mechanic and then up to Master Sergeant. He was overjoyed and proud to talk about his time in the service and wishes he would have never retired. Herb was a fisherman and had more fishing poles than you can imagine. He adored his family; Herb loved to talk about his brothers and sisters and jokingly told people my brothers are Frank and Jesse James. He loved to talk about all the things him and his brother Willie got into, which was mainly how Herb had to step up for Willie when he stirred up some fights. He loved children and no matter where he went if he saw a child, he would always high five, stop and talk or make some sort of gesture. Herb was a one of a kind man who was loved dearly and will be forever missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Alma James; first wife, Geraldine James; siblings, Frank James, Jesse James, Juanita Lunsford, Clarence Stub James, Frances Springs, Eleanor Patty, John James, Willie James, Emma Scribner.
Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his wife, Glenda
James; children, Ricki James and wife Sherry, Linda Bigbie, Greg
James and wife Tina, Letitia Weast and husband Aaron, Lanore
Cain and husband Harry; stepchildren, James Hetzel, Jane
Burnett; sister, Julie Locke; 12 grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
