Services for Joe Dowell Stanford, 77, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David Gray will officiate.
Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Stanford died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his home. He was born
March 18, 1938 at Tishomingo to Velton and JoDene Kiser Stanford. He
attended McLish grade school and graduated from McLish High School in
1958. He graduated from Murray State College in Tishomingo with an
Associate’s Degree and also attended Oklahoma State University in
Stillwater.
He married Paula Scott April 17, 1970 in Midwest City. Mr. Stanford was
a rancher and oilman until his retirement. He also had worked at the Ada
Livestock Auction , Great Plains Oil and Gas and S and A Energy. He was
a member of Fittstown Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Stanford, of the home; son, Steven D.
Stanford and wife Susan of Ada; daughters, Cyndy Meeks and husband Mike
of Lula and Angie Foster and husband Shane of Ada; a sister, Vicky
Butler of Norman; his granddaughters, Miranda Harris and husband Jake,
Laura Foster and husband Darrin and Cassie Smee and husband Clinton; his
grandsons, Cade and Riley Stanford, Ben and Jake Foster and Brandon
Meeks; his great-grandchildren, Dax Foster, Hallie Smee, Cheyenne Smee
and Adrianna Smee; and a nephew, Joe Butler and wife Rachel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Coplen; a
brother-in-law Robert Butler; and a neice, Lensay Butler.
Bearers will be Jon Ross, Joel Butler, Darrin Foster, Farrell Large,
Larry Large and David Perkins. Honorary bearers will be Eldon Flinn,
Mike Flowers and Donnie Skeet.
