Graveside services for Dortha Marie Karr Peters, 91, of Edmond, formerly of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Pontotoc Cemetery, David Dirrim will officiate.

Mrs. Peters passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at an Edmond hospital. She was born February 7, 1924 at Coalgate to W. Clarence and Lillie Scott Karr. She attended grade school at Rocky Point and graduated from Ada High School. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from East Central University.

She married Alfred J. Peters April 20, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2001. Mrs. Peters was a primary teacher at Farmington, NM and also taught for 17 years at Concord, CA. She was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada for several years. In 1996, she moved to Edmond and worshipped at 9th Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Elaine Mercer and her husband Ron of Edmond; five grandchildren, Kerry Peters, Houston, Casey Peters, Oklahoma City, Tami Brunner, Edmond, Cristin Mercer, Oklahoma City and Ronald Gene Mercer, II, Oklahoma City; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A. J. Peters; a daughter, Kathleen Peters in 1965; and a son, David C. Peters in 1993.
