Shannon Delores Barnes a devoted wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother left this life and joined her Savior on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the age of 85.

She was born in Caddo, Oklahoma on March 31, 1931 to Volley Albert “Judge” and Eula Mae (Mitchell) Reeves. Shannon married Billy Bruce Barnes on April 16, 1951 in Durant, Oklahoma.

Shannon was a devoted wife to her husband Bill, while caring for her home and family. She worked as a secretary for the Atoka County Commissioners for 25 years. Shannon was very independent, and had a loving attitude for life and family, she was an inspiration to many. She loved her family very much, especially her cherished grandchildren, and always looked forward to any time they spent together. Shannon liked looking for antiques, and reading Louis L’amour. novels. She will be greatly missed by all those she loved, and those who loved her.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by her husband, Bill Barnes of the home; son, Farrell Barnes and wife Jo Dawnna of Alvarado, Texas; daughter, Tina Walker and husband Ronnie of Nida, Oklahoma; son, Billy Barnes of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother Cecil Reeves and wife Ann of Atoka, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shane Barnes and wife Monica of Mansfield, Texas, Farrah Barnes of Covington, Texas, Tarah McKinney and husband Waylon of Nida, Oklahoma, Tessa Todd and husband Chase of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Adam Barnes of Grapevine, Texas, Ashley Barnes of Sherman, Texas, Nathan Barnes and wife Shelly of Kansas City, Kansas, Rannde Frederick and husband Rob of Durant, Oklahoma and Kara Johnson and husband James of Brookeville, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Andrew, Tenlee, Timber, Channing, Haley, James, Lincoln, Walker, Raegan, Hadasah and Trae.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Reeves and Eula Reeves; sister, Wilna Green; brothers, Jake Reeves, Hoyle Reeves, and C.M. Reeves.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery c/o Paula Moore, 2320 Mockingbird Lane, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-7:00 PM, Friday October 7th at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

A church service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 8th the Caddo 1st Baptist Church with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Nida, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Adam Barnes, Waylon McKinney, Chase Todd, Rob Frederick, Phillip Culbreath and Nathan Barnes. Honorary pallbearer will be Shane Barnes.
