Graveside services for Sharon H. Bond, 82, of Denton, Texas (formerly of Marietta) will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 20 in the Mill Creek Cemetery, Mill Creek.

Born October 22, 1935, at Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Phillip Howard and Marie Ella Huffman, she died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in the Willow Bend Assisted Living, Denton. Sharon had made her home in Love County for 32 years before recently moving to Denton. She and Jack Nelson Bond were married in Clovis, New Mexico on December 10, 1954. They were happily married for 58 years. Due to Jack’s job as a geologist with Gulf Oil Company, the couple raised their family overseas. Shortly after they were married, Jack took Sharon to San Tome, Venezuela where all three of their children were born. In the years to come, they also lived in Bolivia, Nigeria and Cameroons. Wherever they lived, Sharon set up a school for her son Doug and welcomed other children. She collected angels and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She loved to cook, sew, and entertain in her home. Everyone was welcome. She also cherished her four grandchildren and was delighted when they started to lovingly call her “Gurah”. The name stuck and some of her close friends began to call her “Gurah” as well. Sharon attended Marietta’s First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on May 15, 2013; and a sister, Sandra Huffman.

Survivors include three sons, Craig Bond and wife Terri of Denton, Steve Bond and wife Leslie Herd of Tampa, Florida, and Doug Bond of Denton; and four grandchildren, Jason Bond, Kayla Bond, Jonathan Herd-Bond and Jimmy Herd-Bond.

Assisting as honorary bearers will be her sons, Craig, Steve and Doug Bond and her grandchildren, Jason Bond, Kayla Bond, Jonathan Herd-Bond and Jimmy Herd-Bond.
