Carl Douglas Barnes, 78, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in Gods loving arms on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at his home in Madill.  

He was born on April 16, 1947, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Calvin Dillard “C.D.” Barnes Jr. and Lovina Vanilla Adams Barnes. Carl was raised in Mannsville, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Mannsville High School in 1965 and later served in the United States Army.

On June 19, 1970, he married Jean Crawford in Dallas, Texas. After living in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he worked for Cummins Diesel, Carl moved to Madill in 1984. He retired after 30 years of service with Pettit Machinery.  

Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mannsville, and he enjoyed hunting, raising cattle, spending time with his family, and running with his granddaughters.


He is survived by:

Wife:                           Jean Barnes of Madill, Oklahoma 

Daughter:                    Kayla Arnold and husband Royce of Madill, Oklahoma 

Granddaughters:         Ashlynn Arnold and Emily Arnold

Brothers:                     Lyndal Barnes and wife Sharron of Mannsville, Oklahoma

                                   Weldon Barnes and wife Debbie of Mannsville, Oklahoma

Sister:                          Martha Larson and husband Steve of Mannsville, Oklahoma

Several nieces and nephews


Casket bearers:         Royce Arnold, Steve Larson, Dustin Barnes, J.B. Bell, Leland Barnes, 

Colton Barnes, Nathan Barnes, and Garrett Larson.

Honorary Casket bearers:   Weldon Barnes, Lyndal Barnes, Charles Shockley, Dan Childs, 

Bruce Page, Randy Rushing, and John Berkley.
