Jess Cleveland Sherwood, 74, of Madill, OK passed from this life
on November 18th, 2019 in Madill, Ok. Jess was born on September
28th, 1945 to Virgil and Elsie Pauline Sherwood in Seneca, Mo.
Jess attended schools in Joplin, Seneca, and Crowder Community
College in Missouri. He entered the Armed Forces in June of 1966
and was honorably discharged in June of 1969 after serving in
the Infantry in Vietnam. He married Virginia L. Keel on March
18, 1976 in Miami, OK. Jess moved to Tishomingo, OK in August
1980. Jess was a family man, he also belonged to the V.F.W. and
The American Legion. He loved working on cars, fishing and he
especially loved his dogs Buster and Hooter. He was a mechanic
by trade.
Jess is survived by his wife Virginia Sherwood of Madill, OK,
His children Rick McGehee and wife Janie of Ada, OK; Kevin
McGehee and wife Susan of Madill, OK; Brenda Dawson and husband
Buddy of Mannsville, OK; Dustin McGehee of Ada, OK;
daughter-in-law, Cheryl Teague of Tishomingo, OK. His
grandchildren: Ryan, Brittany, Halie, Amber, Kelsey, Bay, Kyle,
Corbin, Tiffany, Sommer, Zoe, and Justin, also 15 great
grandchildren. His siblings Marvin Sherwood; Floyd Sherwood and
wife Sandy; Carolyn Sargent and husband Tim; his special friends
Jerold Phillips, Duane Grey, Raye Lyn Cole, and Patty Foster as
well as his beloved dogs Buster and Hooter. And numerous nieces
and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Elsie Pauline
Sherwood, one sister, Melva Sherwood, and her spouse Jim, and
sister-in-law, Rachel Sherwood.
A funeral service will be held at Brown’s Funeral Service Madill
on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
Burial with Honors to follow at Fillmore Cemetery Milburn, Oklahoma.
Family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services are under the direction of Browns Funeral Service Madill.
