Funeral Services for Mr. David E. Bethune, 80, of Ardmore, Oklahoma will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 1:00 p. m. in the Herb Clark Memorial Chapelk in Tishomingo, Oklahoma with Pastor Ivan Richeson officiating, assisted by Don Keel.
Interment will
follow in the Fillmore Cemetery. Mr. Bethune passed away on May 2, 2016 at
the Oklahoma Veteran's Center in Ardmore.
David Earl Bethune was born on August 3, 1935, in Paris, Arkansas to Dillard
Bethune and Agnes (Gray) Bethune. He lived there before joining the Marines
in 1953, serving until 1956 during the Korean War. He then returned home
until he was about to be drafted into military so he then signed up to join
the Air Force in 1961 serving until 1965 during Vietnam Era. He studied and
excelled at Electronics while serving his country. After honorable
discharge, he made Houston, Texas his home. He and Kathy Keel married on May
23, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. David enjoyed photography for a few years before
starting up his own business, Harbor Electronics in Aransas Pass, Texas. He
was also half owner of Fisherman's Wharf on Mustang Island for a few years.
He retired in 2001 when he and Kathy moved to Tishomingo, Oklahoma to enjoy
their children and grandchildren. They later lived in Ada, Oklahoma for a
few years, before David moved to the Veterans Center in Ardmore. He passed
away there on May 2, 2016 at the age of 80.
He Preceded in death by his daughter, Danette Goble, his sisters, Thelma Koser, Maria Destefano, Neoma Strawn, Leona Ruggerio, and Dana Treadwell, his brothers: Donald Bethune and Delmus "Sonny" Bethune.
David is survived by: his wife
Kathy Bethune and daughter, Carey Ruhnke both of Ada, grand-children: Jason
Goble, Steven Harris, Ashley Harris, Lauren Harris, and Diamond Middleton,
great-grandchildren, Hunter Stephens, Blakelyn Pamplin, Kendall Goble,
Kendall Pamplin, and Jagger Vaughn, many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Nathan Pamplin, Steven Harris, Hunter
Stephens, Kevin McGehee, Chantz Houston and Joe Thomas.
