Funeral services for Delores M. Stephens, 72, of Coleman, will be
held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Highway 48 Church of Christ with
Mike Pannell officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman
Cemetery. Mrs Stephens passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at her
home.
Delores was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Melrose, N. M. to Raymond
Jackson and Maude Vance Jackson. She attended school in Ranchvale,
N. M. and later married Don Stephens on February 10, 1951, in
Clovis, N. M. They moved to Johnston County in 1954. She helped her
husband in their farming and ranching operation for many years and
most recently was a home health provider.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1980;
and sisters Doris Newman, Arlene Shumate and Bertie Cox.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Denis and Rhonda
Stephens; daughters Darlene Pigg and her husband Jerry and Diane
Lewis and her companion Michael Hall, all of Coleman; ten
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives
and friends.
Pallbearers for the service will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law:
Travis Stephens, Jason Pigg, Jared Pigg, Gurley Martin, Casey
Robinson, Jonathan Hogue, Scott Pittman and Michael Martin. Honorary
bearers will be Red Owens, Kemper Tyson and Sonny Neely.
Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Service of
Tishomingo.
