Services for Norma Ladoshia Prentice, 81, Bokchito, who passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at her residence will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Caddo. Rev. Jim Baker will officiate.

Norma was born February 6, 1924, in Filmore to George Albert Brashier and Estie (Helms) Brashier. Norma grew up going to school in a covered wagon and always stressed the value of an education. She began her teaching career at the age of 19 and continued teaching until she retired at the age of 63. Norma lived and taught for two years in Jimma, Ethiopia, and she always cherished the friendships and memories she had from the experience. She loved to travel and was able to visit 1958 World's Fair in Belgium. Norma also visited Bangkok, Thailand and Hong Kong. In the 1970s she visited Venezuela, and in the 1980s she spent a month in Germany. Norma loved to quilt, was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association, a member of the Bokchito Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Caddo First Baptist Church where she taught a ladies' Bible class. She was a good Christian mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and friends. Norma loved to play cards and cherished the weekly canasta games with her friends. Her stories entertained her family and friends and her love of life and generous spirit were an inspiration to all.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Halla Dutton; and a brother, Montana "Corky" Brashier.

Survivors include sister Marcell Pool and husband Dave Pool, Stonewall; sister-in-law, Lilian Brashier, Ada; sons Walter Prentice and wife Leslie, Bokchito; Russell Prentice and wife Ann, Caddo; grandchildren, Melisse Prentice, Durant, David Prentice, Ithaca, N.Y., Amy Prentice, Caddo, Katheryn Prentice and Kaityln Prentice, both of Bokchito; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Condon Grove cemetery at Milburn with Tom Jones, Clint Jones, Gary Jones, Arvil Milligan, Richard McIntire and Don Singleton serving as pall bearers.
