Clark Funeral Service

Funeral Services for Mr. Bennie D. Nichols, 92, of Tishomingo will be held on Monday, October 24th, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. in the Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth McCarthick officiating. Interment will follow in the Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn, Oklahoma. Mr. Nichols passed away on October 20th, at his daughter’s home in Moore, Oklahoma.

Bennie was born on December 6th, 1918 in the Bullard Chapel Community to Philip George Nichols and Josie Boling Nichols. He married Bonnie Belle Quaid on February 2nd, 1936 in Tishomingo, a union lasting 57 years till the death of Bonnie on October 3rd, 1993. He was a resident of Johnston County and lived within eight miles of his birthplace, all of his life. He owned and operated a dairy farm at Bullard Chapel and later worked for the Johnston County Soil Conversation District. After retirement, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed mowing lawns. His prize possessions were his three riding mowers, two for mowing and one for riding all over town. His favorite pastime was keeping horses for his grandchildren and going to playdays.

Bennie was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bennie Don Nichols on April 8th, 1996; his grandson, Bryan Doyle Nichols; great-grandson, Dalton Nichols; two sisters, Nora Pressley and Maggie Nichols; his brother, John T. Nichols and his son-in-law, Roger Smith.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his daughter, Mary Kathryn Smith of Moore, Oklahoma; his sister, Josie Mae Ballard of Tishomingo; granddaughters, Jeanice Shropshire & her husband Kendell & Rhonda Gale Shupe & her husband Tomas of Moore; three grandsons, Roger Don Smith of Joplin,Missouri, Ricky Nichols of Oklahoma City and Larry Nichols of West Virginia; five great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Mary Dale Nichols and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Gerald Mobley, Terry Ballard, Kendell Shropshire, Tomas Shupe, Nicholas Shupe, and Dalen Shupe.
