Mr. Johnson was born April 29, 1912, in Hagerman, Grayson County, Texas, the descendant of a pioneer family and the son of Sidney A. Johnson and Eunice Jones Johnson.
Arthur attended Hagerman and Denison, Texas, schools. He married Nora Mae Kelly Dec. 23, 1933, in Sherman, Texas. They moved to the Twelve Mile Prairie in 1940 and have been in Johnston County since that date, farming, ranching and operating a dairy until retirement in 1978. He became a Christian at an early age attending Presbyterian and Baptist churches.He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, Gladys Stanberry, Edith Bullock, and two brothers, Sidney A. Johnson and Andrew D. Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by seven children, LeeRay, Dallas, Texas, Melvin, Tishomingo, Wanda Woolly, Daisy, Genette Wheeler, Denison, Betty DaVault, Arlington, Texas, Andy, Bold Springs, and Carolyn McCutcheon, Durant; three sisters Frances Cockrell, Dallas, Eunice Bell, Denison, and Corine Huey, Corpus Christi, Texas; 21 grandchildren; several step grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
