Shirley Dean Alexander

October 10, 1943 - July 6, 2019

Shirley Dean Alexander was born October 10, 1943 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Mamie (Brock) and Earl Meadows. She passed away July 6, 2019 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 26 days.
At the age of 2 months, Shirley moved with her family to Elk City, Oklahoma from Eldorado, Oklahoma. She grew up in Elk City and attended school at Merritt. She left school to marry her longtime sweetheart, Edward Ronald Alexander on December 31, 1960 in Claude, Texas. After their marriage they lived in various places until they moved to Bethany, Oklahoma in 1965 and made their home there for 11 years. In 1976 they moved to Elk City where they made their home and Shirley continued to be a homemaker. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith but attended the First Assembly of God church where she made many friends and loved them dearly. When her illness progressed she switched her affiliation to the Fairview Baptist Church where he friends attended. Later, because of illness, her inability to attend church services and fellowship with her friends broke her heart. Before she became ill she enjoyed gardening, embroidering, cooking for husband and after her illness was diagnosed, she most enjoyed teasing her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Joe Franklin and Charles Junior Meadows, 1 sister, Lola Wisecarver, 2 nephews, Lynn Brady and Tim Brady and 1 special great niece, Chrissy Rogers.
She is survived by 1 sister, Edna Brady, Marlow, OK; 2 nieces, Lisa Bowles and husband, David, Ninnekah, OK and Sherry Rogers and husband, Glenn, Elk City, OK; 3 nephews, Dennis Brady and wife, Marsha, Canadian, OK, Todd Brady and wife, Amanda, Marlow, OK and Jim Meadows, Calhoun, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019, 2:00 PM at Whinery Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service.
