Linda Marie Rogers King, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, teacher, and lifelong learner, passed away Saturday night, May 23, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished most.
Linda was born on November 30, 1944, in Holdenville, OK, to Read Rogers and Ollie (Gillespie) Rogers. She was raised in Wetumka, OK, and graduated from Wetumka High School in 1963. Growing up in a close-knit home, she shared a lifelong bond with her siblings and remained deeply devoted to those she loved throughout her life.
Linda married Thomas M. King, and together they built a life centered on love, education, and family while raising their three children: Laura Shawver and husband John, Amy Lewis and husband Rick, and Seth King.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Ashley Wellings and husband Brent, Emily Lee and husband Josh, and Madison Wyatt, and a devoted great-grandmother to three little boys, Sawyer Lee, Benjamin Lee, and Charlie Wellings. Nothing brought Linda greater joy than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured family gatherings, holidays, long conversations, and every chance to be part of the lives of those she loved.
Linda earned her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University and later completed her master's degree from East Central University in 2007. She devoted her professional life to education, teaching elementary students and later serving as a reading specialist. Through her patience, encouragement, and genuine care for others, she touched the lives of generations of children and families throughout her career.
Outside of her work, Linda enjoyed books, puzzles, gardening, and flowers. She found happiness in simple moments and kept a curious, thoughtful spirit all her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. King; her parents, Read and Ollie Rogers; and her siblings, Joetta Tinkler, Reada Gannaway, and Dan Rogers.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at the Methodist Church in Wetumka, with graveside services to follow.
Linda leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and who will carry forward her kindness, wisdom, and devotion. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched as a mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend.
