Paul David Cosper of Talihina, Oklahoma passed from this life Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in Poteau, Oklahoma at the age of 82.
Paul was born October 22, 1937 in Allen, Oklahoma to Royal Taft & Inez Onita (Fulton) Cosper. After high school Paul served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Billie Sue Elliott on December 9, 1965 and in the early 70's the family came to Talihina to operate the Talihina Cardinal Food Store and did so until the store burned in 1981. He then went to work for the Talihina Veterans Center as a cook until his retirement. Paul loved anything to do with the outdoors, gardening, raising chickens, fishing and just being outside. He was always joking around and pulling pranks on people and he was a joy to be around.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, sister Peggy Lawrence and an infant brother.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his wife Billie Sue of the Home, children Anita Duncan & husband Joe of Talihina, John Paul Cosper & wife Shelly of Wister, Jack Cosper of Talihina, Rebecca Wacker & husband Wade of Muskogee, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, siblings, Katherine Thetford of McAlester, John Cosper & wife April of Cleo Springs, Darlene Whorton & husband David of Enid as well as numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers: Jonathan Cosper, Justin Mize, Joe Duncan, Terry Sullivan, and Brent Thetford.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Burkhart Funeral Service of Talihina.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Non Free Will Baptist Church in Non, Oklahoma with Randall Miller officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Non Cemetery under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service of Talihina.
