On Mar. 24, 1832, Opothle Yahola signed the Creek Removal Treaty in Washington, surrendering all Creek land in Alabama by 1836. Canury Lowe's family had jorneyed from their native Hoithle Waule (Thlewarle) one of the oldest Upper Red Stick Creek Towns to stop at the triangle formed by the North Canadian and Deep Fork Rivers (near Pierce, I.T.). Moving futher west, the family made their first home at the present site of this cemetery. Following tradition, burial of family members in the yard was common, thus beginning the Cemetery. Friends and neighbors without family were also buried here.

During the "White Mans War" (Civil War), Canury and Lena Lowe lived here with their children. A daughter Louisa, married Sandy Fife, son of Artus and Enjawe Harjo, of Arbeka. they lived here and later moved to the southern boundry of Louisa's allotment in 1904. The Dawes Commission alloted this parcel of land to George Bunny, brother of Sandy. The cemetery filled with Log grave houses, was accidentally destroyed by fire in the 1920's.

Since Louisa Lowe Fife was the last of the original Lowe family, the cemetery has been called the Fife Family Cemetery.
