Ellis Edward Patton passed away at the age of 76 years on Monday, May 27, 2002, at the Oklahoma Veterans Home at Sulphur.
Ellis was born on June 9, 1925, at Cordell, Oklahoma, to Frank and Maggie Patton. He was reared in the Breathwaite community and attended Breathwaite and Cordell Schools. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 19, 1944, during World War II, and served in Central Europe. He was wounded in combat in Germany on November 18, 1944, and honorably discharged from the Army on December 10, 1946. Following his military service, he spent most of his adult life farming in the Cordell and Horntown areas, and had lived for the past ten years in the Stuart and Clavin area. In failing health, he moved to Oklahoma Veterans Home in Sulphur, where he passed away on Memorial Day.
Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. He is survived by two brothers: Fred Patton of Cordell, Oklahoma and James Patton of Atwood, Oklahoma; one sister Elsie Harris of Cordell, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; special friend and caretaker, Louise Weaver, of Stuart, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Calvin on Thursday, May 30, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Eddy Mathews officiating. Interment will be in the Atwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
