Nellie Caster Cook passed away on June 3, 2005 with her family by her side. She
was 86 years old. Nellie was born to Robert and Dora Brazell Caster in Stigler,
Oklahoma on September 21, 1918. She was a homemaker for many years and her
talent in cooking great dishes was what she was known by most.
She was married to Dewey "Red" Cook in 1955 and she was a long time resident of
Muskogee. Red preceded her in death in 1979. Also preceding her in death were
her brothers Clifford Caster and wife, Polly, Clarence Caster and wife Jackie,
Ray Caster, Earl L. Caster and his wife Grady and one sister Beatrice Caster
Hillyard and her husband Dewey. One brother Emmett died at birth. Her parents
also preceded her in death. Nellie had one daughter, Loretta who died at the age
of two in 1937. She had one grandson, Robert Goodson who died when he was 35 in
2000. Nellie also had three nieces and a nephew who preceded her in death who
are Earlena Caster Stretch (husband Walter Stretch still living); LeeEtta Caster
Wright Croswhite and her husband Bill Wright are both deceased (husband Wendall
Crosswhite of Arkansas still living); and Norma Caster Daniels (husband Dwight
Daniels still living).
Nellie is survived by her sister-in-law, Viola Caster, and one devoted
daughter-in-law, Judith A. Knedel of Rch Cucamonga, CA; Nellie's son, Ulric A.
"Sonny" Goodson of Upland, California; two daughters, Paulette June Hathcoat of
Muskogee, OK, and Camilla Jane McClurg and son-in-law Stephen McClurg both of
Ft. Gibson, OK. She is also survived by grandchildren Randy Castillo of Reno,
Nevada; Gina Fletcher of Sacramento, CA; Stephen McClurg of Ft. Gibson, OK,
Cynde Harris of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Michael Goodson of Rch Cucamonga, CA;
Troy Newberry of Muskogee, OK; Lisa Copeland of Tahlequah, OK. Niece Donna
Caster Ford and her husband Billy Ford of Coweta, OK; and Thomas "Butch" Caster
and his wife Brenda Caster of Muskogee, OK also survive her. She had eleven
great-grand children and one great-great-grandson.
A private family ceremony will be held June 18, 2005 at Whitefield Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers please make donations to the Diabetes Foundation.
