Roy Don Vieux of Wilburton, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the age of 76.
A viewing will be on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Jones Harkins Funeral Home in Wilburton.
Service will be held in the chapel at Jones-Harkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at the Vance Family Cemetery near Whitefield. Officiating the service will be Paul Brady and Jim Rowlett.
Pallbearers are Darren Briggs, Curtis Southern, Bob Rock, Jason Pebley, Jason Wilson, and Les Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Wooldridge, Buck Wilson, Dennis Edge, Jimmy Elder, John Vincent, Terry Stephenson, and The No Name Gang.
Roy was born in McAlester, Oklahoma to Clarence and Velma Virgie (Edge) Vieux. Roy married Karen Larue Southern in Atoka, Oklahoma on August 30, 1969. Roy received his Doctorate of Education from Kansas State University. He began his career at South Dakota State before moving to Wilburton where he worked at Eastern Oklahoma State College for many years. He continued his career at Wilburton High School as a counselor. He enjoyed attending car shows and spending time with his car show family. His greatest joy was being Papa to Riley and Rian.
Roy is survived by his wife Karen; daughter: Kerri and husband Darren Briggs of Stillwater; granddaughters: Riley and Rian Briggs of Stillwater; mother-in-law: Zoe Southern of Atoka; brother-in-law: Curtis and wife Geraldine Southern of Atoka; nieces: Jennifer Hopson of Austin, TX, Joye and husband Kevin Angel of Atoka, Courtney and husband Chris Gunn of Paris, Texas; his nephew Alexander and wife KaraLynn Southern of Durant, his longtime friend: Carl and wife, Martha Wooldridge of Wilburton, and numerous cousins, family, and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Janifaye Straight, and father-in-law: Howard Southern
