Barbara Shepherd, 79, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Seiling Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Crown Heights Baptist Church in Woodward with the Reverend Bill Tindell and Reverend Steve Bearden officiating.
Barbara Bell (Shirm) Shepherd was born on February 18, 1934 in Rural Harper County, Oklahoma to W.E. "Buck" and Alma (Shuyler) Shirm. She was raised in Harper County and attended school at Austin Valley and graduated from Ft. Supply High School. Barbara attended college at Northwestern State in Alva. Barbara was united in marriage to Clifford Eugene Shepherd on January 8, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico. They were blessed with four children, Duane, Dwight, Scott and Dwana. Barbara worked for the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, the Stock Exchange Bank and at the Western State Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed painting, gardening, horseback riding, going to garage sales every Saturday Morning. Barbara most of all loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Crown Heights Baptist Church. Barbara enjoyed volunteering at the Clothes Closet at the church.
She is survived by four children, Duane Shepherd and wife Teresa, Dwight Shepherd, Scott Shepherd, Dwana Farnsworth and husband Mark; two brothers, Jimmie Shirm and wife Kay, W.E. "Rusty" Shirm Jr., sisters, Lora Garrett, Ernestine Gay, Rose Ella Day, Avis Ortega; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Denton Shepherd and a daughter-in-law, Deanne Shepherd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seiling Hospital or the charity of your choice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
