Elda Pemberton, 91 year old Woodward resident and former Laverne resident, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Laverne Memorial Cemetery.
Elda Dorene (Love) Pemberton was born on February 21, 1931 at the family’s home south of Laverne, Oklahoma to Arthur Willard and Lila Faye (Brinson) Love. She grew up in Laverne and attended the Mt. Pleasant School and graduated from Laverne High School. Elda was united in marriage to Donald Alfred Pemberton on September 26, 1951 in Perryton, Texas. They made their first home east of Laverne on the farm. They lived in several different towns because of their work in the trucking business. They lived in Blanchard, Moore, Woodward and Laverne. Elda and Donald owned the Pemberton Laundry Mat in Laverne for several years and Elda worked along side Donald on the family farm before their retirement. After they retired, they moved to Woodward.
She enjoyed dancing on Friday night at the Senior Citizens Center, gardening, listening to music, puzzles, scrap booking, but most of all Elda loved spending time with her family. Elda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children: Terry Pemberton and wife Kathie of Laverne, Diana Pierce and husband Keith of Woodward; one granddaughter, Teresa Pierce; one great-grandchild, Stetsen Pierce, brothers: J.C. Love and wife Carole of Laverne, Emery Love and wife Lillie of Woodward; sister-in-law, Pearl Shank; close family friend, Iva Flemming; other relatives and friends.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Pemberton, and sister Faye Schmehr and husband Don.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Dementia Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
