The funeral for Eugene E. Van Hooser, 89, of Buffalo, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo. Pastor Randy Foote will officiate. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery , Buffalo. Arrangements are by Myatt Funeral Home, Buffalo.
He was born July 4, 1919, in Southwest City, Mo., to Floyd and Tilda Winters Van Hooser and died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
He was a graduate of Grove High School and worked 20 years for the Texas State Correctional Facility in Huntsville, Texas. He served over 23 years in the Air force during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Huntsville, and Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo.
He married Eva Ford Nov. 25, 1975, in Huntsville.
Surviving are his wife, Eva; three sons, Theron Van Hooser of Fremont, Calif., Ron Van Hooser of Denver, Colo., and Patrick Van Hooser of Kansas City, Mo.; one stepson, Michael Criswell of Buffalo; two daughters, Kay Van Hooser of Kansas City, Mo., and Janet Hill of Nixa, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Corrine Trimpe of Pratt, Kan., and Anita Criswell of Buffalo; one brother, Gordon Van Hooser of Andover, Kan.; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
