Karen Sue Snitker, age 62, of Gillette, Wyoming, formerly of
Hollis, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2011, in
Gillette, Wyoming.
Suzie was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on November 1, 1948, to Ray
E. and Charlottie (Heath) Testerman. Growing up in Harmon
County, Suzie graduated from Hollis School in 1966. After
attending beauty schools in Altus, Oklahoma and California, she
moved back to Hollis where she met Stephen Snitker in 1972. On
July 7, 1973, she married Stephen, the love of her life. They
began their family in 1976 with daughter, Aimee, and again
expanded the family in 1980 with their second daughter Alysson.
Karen and Stephen spent thirty-eight wonderful years together,
before her untimely death. In 1992, they moved to Monte Vista,
Colorado where they began farming. While in the San Luis Valley,
of Colorado, Karen received her bachelor’s degree in Literature
with a minor in Psychology and taught at Trinidad State Junior
College. In 2004, Karen and Stephen moved to Gillette where she
enjoyed being a fulltime homemaker. A very musically talented
person, Karen played the piano, guitar, banjo, violin and
harpsichord. In her spare time, Suzie loved spending time with
her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, quilting, sewing,
gardening and tending to her flowers.
Preceded in death by her father, Ray.
Suzie is survived by her
husband, Stephen, of the home; two daughers, Aimee Snitker and
husband Brad of Gillette, Wyoming and Alysson Schmitt and
husband Mike of Milliken, Colorado; six grandchildren, Bethanie,
Alexa, Joshua, Nicholas, AbiGayle and Eyan; her mother,
Charlottie Testerman of Hollis; one sister, Cheryl Lewis and
husband Roy of Hot Springs, Arkansas; four brothers, Douglas
Testerman and wife Nancy of Hollis, DuWayne Testerman and wife
Danita of Yukon, Oklahoma, Dudley Testerman and wife Karen of
Hollis and Dwight Testerman and Joetta of Mangum along with many
other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Karen Snitker will be at 2 p.m., Saturday,
October 22, 2011, at the Hollis First Baptist Church with Pastor
Justin Sampler officiating. Interment will follow at McKnight
Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of
Hollis.
The family will greet friends at Harmon County Funeral Home on
Friday evening, October 21, 2011, from 5 until 6 p.m.
