Frances was born in San Augustine, Texas on July 12, 1944 to her parents A. L. Wood and Inez (Ward) Wood. Growing up in San Augustine, Texas, Frances met and married the love of her life Shelton Bennefield on December 31, 1960 in San Augustine and they soon moved to Hollis where they have resided ever since. She kept busy working at several businesses in Hollis including the Spike factory in Wellington, the old Dairy Queen in Hollis, George’s, and in home health care. Frances even pulled cotton and shoed horses but her most important job was taking care of her family. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower beds and spending time with her family and grandchildren was always the greatest treasure for Frances and she will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by her father, A. L. Wood and a nephew Michael Hubanks;
Frances is survived by her husband of 56 years, Shelton Bennefield of the home; her mother, Inez Wood of Hollis; her daughter, Angela Brown of Hollis; and son Morris Bennefield of Hollis; four brothers, Preston Wood of Texas; Ray Wood of Gould; Kenneth Wood and wife Melissa of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Mark Wood of Hollis; four sisters, Joyce Hubanks and husband George of Hollis; Syble Sanderson and husband Randy of Texas; Dana Thompkins and husband Eddie of Dodson, Texas; and Debra Wood of Hollis; seven grandchildren, Mindy, Kayla, Travis, Savanah, Brandi, Kodi, and Kadie Jo; six great grandchildren, Alyson, Alana, Ryder, Creed, Caden, Brantley, and one on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Harmon County Funeral Home’s Chapel in Hollis. Interment will follow at McKnight Cemetery north of Hollis under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
