Kenneth Eugene Kromer, 91 of
Vinson, Oklahoma passed away Monday,
August 10th, 2015. Kenneth was born
August 6, 1924 at the family home
north of Independence, Oklahoma to
James F. and Edith (Skaggs) Kromer.
Kenneth graduated high school in
Vinson in 1942.
Kenneth went into the First Calvary
Division of the United States Army
in 1944 and served in the
Philippines and in Japan. He
returned to the U.S. in 1946. He
took pride in his service of our
country and remained dedicated
through the VFW and American Legion
until his death. He taught
generations the meaning of service
and remembrance of those who fought
for our freedom.
Kenneth married Naomi Smith on
February 4, 1948. They were lifelong
partners in everything they did for
62 years until Naomi’s death in
2010. Kenneth was also preceded in
death by his two sons, Lynn and
Monte.
Kenneth is survived by two
daughter-in-laws, Vickie Kromer of
Vinson, OK and Carla Hoggard and her
husband Bob of Hedley, Tx; five
grandchildren, Kristi and her
husband Daren Jones of Vinson, Faith
and her husband Brad Whisenant of
Hollis, Shawna and her husband Rick
Skorepa of Hollis, Kirk Kromer and
his wife Lisa of Vinson and Cliff
Kromer of Vinson; nine great
grandchildren, Kolton, Seth and
Shylee Kromer, Harlie, Braxton and
Tori Whisenant, Terynn, Blair and
Maddox Skorepa.
Kenneth had a love for God, family,
country and horses. His love of
horses began when he was very young
with a bridle around his neck
running up and down the hills and
continued up until his last ride. He
always believed it to be a beautiful
sight to see his entire family
horseback waiting for the signal to
“ride out”.
Kenneth was a faithful member of the
Church of Christ. His belief in God
guided him through tough times
during the depression, War,
droughts, and all the way through
the loss of his beloved wife and two
sons. The last few years Kenneth has
been ready to meet his family in
heaven and be buried near his red
hill.
