L. J. George, age 84, of Vinson and a lifelong resident of the
Carl Community Harmon County, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday,
March 12, 2014 at Harmon County Memorial Hospital in Hollis.
L. J. was born in the Carl Community, Oklahoma on December 14,
1929 to Luther Leonard and Ruby Pauline (Conaway) George.
L. J. served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and he received an honorable discharge. On October 11, 1948 he married Carmen Martin in Perryton, Texas and they were married for over 65 great years before his death. L. J. worked as a farmer and rancher and loved all his animals and cattle. L. J. was a very enthusiastic motorcycle rider, he loved to ride and be at motorcycle events. He loved his family and took care of them and he will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Monte Kromer; one sister, Janetta Kelley; two grandsons, Jeramy Bryson and Brandon Nash; and granddaughter, Erin Nicole Nash;
L. J. is survived by his wife Carmen George of the home; two sons, James George and his wife Debbie of Spearman, Texas; Leslie George of Vinson; two daughters, Vickie Kromer of Vinson; Rona Nash of Vinson; one sister, Yvonna Goicovich of California; nine grandchildren, Faith, Shawna, Cliff, Derek, Sarah, Jared, Caleb, Deneile, and Devin; eighteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 15, 2014 at
Harmon County’s Funeral Home Chapel with Jesse Motley and Gerald
Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at Independence
Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Harmon
County Funeral Home-Hollis.
