Harmon County Funeral Home

Harley Kenneth Smith, 66, of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Harley was born January 7, 1950 in Altus, Oklahoma to Kenneth and Shirley (Pierce) Smith. Harley graduated from Gould School in 1968 and attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus.

In Harley's early years in Gould, you could find him playing sports and riding horse back with his classmates. He liked quail hunting with his dad and brothers. Fishing with his grandfather O.I. Pierce was one of his favorite things to do. Harley and Robin (Taylor) were united in marriage on November 27, 1989 in Wellington Texas and have resided together for over twenty-seven years in Harmon County.

One of Harley's greatest loves was coaching baseball. He has influenced many lives while coaching Little League and American Legion teams for his sons. OU football, OU women's basketball, and the Oklahoma City Thunder were a few of his favorite things to watch. He enjoyed reading and studying things on the internet and checking the fishing reports from Lake Texhoma. He loved and looked forward to going on vacation with his family every year to the lake. Hunting of any kind and fishing were his favorite past times when he wasn't hauling cotton for the Motley Gin for the last thirty plus years.

Harley was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Smith; granddaughter, Kylie Dawn Smith; and nephew, Josh Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Smith of the home; his mother, Shirley Smith of Hollis; four sons, Tim Smith of Altus, Tadd Smith of Mangum, Josh Martinez of Sherman, TX, and George Martinez and wife Cadie of Hollis; two brothers, Dean Smith and Kirk Smith of Joplin, MO; nine grandchildren, Colorado Smith, Sierra Smith, Keelie Smith, Karcie Smith, Lyndzey Huynh, Ethan Huynh, Aby Martinez, Ace Martinez, and Adie May Martinez; niece Shanna Willis and husband Justin; great niece, Madison Willis; and numerous relatives and friends.

Graveside Services for Harley Kenneth Smith will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Liberty Cemetery in Harmon County, Oklahoma.
The family will greet friends at Harmon County Funeral Home on Friday evening, May 27, 2016, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
