Troy Gene Savage, age 66, of Hollis, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012, at his residence, in Hollis.
Mr. Savage was born on September 13, 1945, in Mesa Grande, Arizona, to Paul and Mary (Pickle) Savage. Moving to California, Gene met and married Leona Faye Wiles on December 29, 1979. In 1995, they moved to Colorado and in 2001, to Indiana to be near his family. In 2012, with Gene’s health failing, Gene and Leona moved to Hollis to be near Leona’s family. Throughout his life, he worked in the cotton fields and cotton industry. From chopping cotton to irrigating to working at the gin, he loved cotton farming. Gene enjoyed watching television, boxing, eating pizza, the Indiana Colts Football and anything working with his hands. From the time he arose in the morning until retiring at night, Gene was drinking coffee and being hot natured, Gene always had a fan blowing on him.
Preceded in death by his parents. Interment will follow at the Gould
Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of
Hollis.
He is survived by his wife
Leona, of the home; three sisters, Stella Bruner, Sarah Walker
and Debbie Yager; four brothers, Leroy “Bub” Savage, Ron Savage,
Larry Savage and Ricky Savage along with many other relatives
and many, many friends.
Funeral services for Gene Savage will be at 6 p.m., Friday,
August 31, 2012, at the Hollis Assembly of God with Pastor Alan
Davenport officiating.
