Gould, Harmon County, Oklahoma
Connie Juanita Hughes, age 88, of Pampa, Texas, formerly of Hollis,
passed away Monday morning, August 6, 2012, at her home in Pampa.
Mrs. Hughes was born on September 1, 1923, in Hollis, to Mart L. and
Opal Envy (Conner) Crabb. Living in the Hollis and Ron area for many
years she married Mose S. Hughes on December 24, 1943, in Hollis and he
preceded her in death in 2007. In 1946, they moved to Pampa where she
was a homemaker and later worked in a laundry at Pampa. A devoted wife,
daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great
grandmother, she loved to fish and camp. In her later years, she cared
for her mother and helped care for her sister Loweta. She loved reading
her Bible and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Loweta Chumley,
she is survived by her daughter, Gloria Hamilton and husband Glenn of
Pampa, Texas; one grandson, Shane Hamilton and wife Starla of Pampa;
great grandson, Skyler Hamilton of Pampa; one sister, Virginia Hays and
husband Roger of Olustee; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services for Juanita Hughes will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, August
9, 2012, at Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Bartel
officiating. Interment will follow at the Gould Cemetery under the
direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
