Jerry Wayne Earls, age 70, of Blair, and formerly of Hollis, passed
away late Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011, at Purcell Municipal
Hospital.
Mr. Earls was born in Altus, Oklahoma on October 28, 1940, to Samuel
and Florence (Moon) Earls and was the youngest of five boys. With
Jerry’s mother dying while he was at a young age, he began school at
Gould and helped his dad with the farming. In October 1970, Jerry
married the love of his life, Dorothy Moore, and they spent the next
forty years together before her death in December of 2010. Working
for several years at Republic Gypsum in Duke, Jerry later began
working for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he spent
many years before his retirement. In 2003, they moved to Blair where
Jerry was a member of the local car club and enjoyed drinking coffee
with his friends every morning. Over his lifetime, he also enjoyed
spending his spare time coon hunting, car racing, fishing, and being
with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, four brothers,
Bob Earls, Choc Earls, Sammy Earls and Tommy Earls.
He is survived
by one daughter, Leslie Davis and husband Darrin of Purcell; three
grandchildren, Wade Davis, Phillip Bragg Davis and Elizabeth Davis,
all of Purcell along with many nieces, nephews, cousins other
relatives and a host of friends. Jerry also had a little dog named
"Sissy" that he loved and adored.
Funeral services for Jerry Earls will be at 2 p.m., Friday, October
21, 2011, at the Harmon County Funeral Home with Brother Tim Tutten
officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Gould
Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of
Hollis.
