Funeral services are pending with Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
Barbara Ann Bryant was born on September 12, 1926, in Gould, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Jessie Erla (Echols) Bryant. Barbara graduated from Hollis High School in the class of ’45 and spent her freshman year at Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma. She transferred to Oklahoma A & M and graduated from Stillwater, Oklahoma, with a bachelor’s degree in Vocational Home Economics. She played clarinet throughout her school years in Hollis and in college in marching band and several different concert bands and was a member of Glee Club. She participated in various activities during her college years, but was proud that she had lettered in archery. She was also proud to have had photography under the direction of Dr. Haskell Pruett who was a long-time friend and fellow Mangum High School graduate of her mother. “Doc” Pruett remained a close friend of the family throughout his lifetime.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jess
Bryant, of Hollis, Oklahoma, her brother, Phillip Barclay Bryant
of Houston, Texas, her sister Eva Mae Bryant Capone, of El Paso,
Texas and her son-in-law, Gerald Perkins, of Pahrump, Nevada.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Pauline Bakkenist of
Houston, Texas, cousin Mima Barrett, of Bryan, Texas, two
daughters, Debra Lynn Hardin, of Pahrump, Nevada and Denise
Latimer, of Severna Park, Maryland; four grandchildren, Aliceia
Perkins, of Hollis, Michael Keith Latimer and wife, Amy of Eden,
Maryland, Jeremy David Latimer of Seattle, Washington, and
Christopher Neal Latimer and wife Emily Rose, of Norfolk,
Virginia; three great grandchildren, Riley Brannan, of Hollis,
Amanda Michele Latimer, and Katherine Elizabeth Latimer, of
Eden, Maryland, along with Eva Mae’s son, Dino Bryant Capone,
and Phil’s children, Cheryl Lavae Lancaster, Lynn Bryant,
Phillip Barclay Bryant, Jr., and Scott Phillip Bryant along with
their spouses and children and many other relatives and friends.
