Clyde was born April 18, 1936, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Bill and Doshia Whitman. Clyde graduated in 1954 from Hollis High School. He owned and operated the Otasco store, operated the Edmond Freight Service sixteen years and worked for Wright Comfort Solutions for eight years. He served twenty years on the Hollis volunteer fire department, serving the last nine years as Fire Chief. Clyde was a true family man and loved spending time with family, friends, and his faithful dog Greta. He loved going to the Hollis Inn for breakfast just so he could keep up with what was happening in town.
Clyde is survived by Mary, his wife of twenty-five years, their children, Donna and Larry Crabb, of Hollis; Bill Whitman, Binger, Oklahoma; Robert and Denise Whitman, Arlington, Texas; Phillip Mullins, Altus, Oklahoma; Kelley and Michael Baker, Keller, Texas; Stephanie and Rick Jones, Tulsa, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren M'kale Crabb-Hillis; M'kenzi Crabb; Cole Whitman; Jordyn Whitman; Blakely Whitman; M'kyla Crabb; Brandy and Michael Gibbons; Zachary Jones; Tiffany Jones; Kerby Baker and two great grandchildren Skyla and Mason Gibbons. Other survivors include the mother of his children, Jeanne Rutherford and her husband, Mike of Blair, Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Patsy Jones and Pansy Dunlap and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clyde was preceded in death by his father Bill in 1955, his mother Doshia in 2002, grandson Tyler Baker in 2002 and grand son-in-law, Robert Hillis in 2006.
Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
