Ray Taylor, age 75, of Mangum and formerly of Hollis, passed away Wednesday morning, September 21, 2011, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. Mr. Taylor was born on March 24, 1936, in Pineville, Kentucky to Shelby Roy and Shirley (Hendrickson) Taylor. Shortly after graduating from high school, Ray joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for ten years. Over the years, Ray lived in several different locations including Seattle, Washington, California, Hollis and Mangum until his health began to fail and he moved to the Clinton Veterans Center. Ray enjoyed anything to do with Nascar, but really enjoyed being with his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Paden Boston.
He is survived by his wife, Mickie, of the home, in Mangum; two daughters, Shirley Adams and husband Steve of Wichita Falls, Texas and Sue McDowell and husband Rodney of Altus; three step children, Kelly Putman and husband Ronald of Elk City, Scotty Knight and wife Mona of Ponca City and Steve Wilson and wife Cindy of Clinton; three sisters, Audrey Epps, Mary Howard and Shelby Jean Napier; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.


Graveside funeral services for Ray Taylor will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2011, at Fairmount Cemetery, in Hollis, with Pastor Ed Porter officiating. Services are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
