Guadalupe Gonzales Rodriguez, age 80, of Hollis, passed away Friday afternoon, December 7, 2012, at Harmon Memorial Hospital, in Hollis.

Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Anson, Texas, on May 21, 1932, to Lorenzo and Porfira (Lara) Gonzales. As a small child, they moved to Stanford, Texas and later, Plainview, Texas, where they lived for many years. On October 8, 1949, she married Adolfo Alexander Rodriguez and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1985. After their marriage, the family moved to Lubbock, where they spent many years. Through the years, her daughter, Linda Ortiz, and husband Antonio, lived with the Rodriguez family, as Adolfo drove a truck and was gone much of the time. In 2008, they all moved to Hollis to be near Guadalupe’s great grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and cooking.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Janie Gonzales and one brother, John Gonzales, she is survived by two children, Linda Ortiz and husband Antonio of Hollis and Henry R. Rodriguez, Sr. of New Braunfels, Texas; four sisters, Eloisa Gonzales and husband Emillo of Plainview, Texas, Romona Flores and husband Juan of Mertzon, Texas, Lidia Benevidez and husband Angel of Lubbock, Texas and Josie Gonzales of Lubbock; one brother, Antonio Gonzales of Texas; eight grandchildren, Sandy DeBusk, Margie Mendoza, Tony Elvis Ortiz, Sonny Ortiz, Henry Ricky Rodriguez, Jr., Steven J. Rodriguez, Michael K. Rodriguez, Venessa A. Rodriguez, April Ortiz, Linda Calderon, Martin E. Herrera, and Joan S. Ramirez; seven great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Guadalupe Rodriguez will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012, with Pastor Sally Saldana officiating at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel.
A Rosary was held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2012. Interment was in the Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
