Marie Gracie Rippetoe, age 99, of Thomas, Oklahoma, formerly of Hollis, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 30, 2011, at the Thomas Nursing Center. Mrs. Rippetoe was born on July 2, 1912, in Hollis, to Morris and Willie (Winn) Newman. After moving several times due to her father’s jobs, Marie married Willard Earl Rippetoe, in Hollis, on July 14, 1928. They spent the next sixty-five wonderful years together before his death on August 18, 1993. A homemaker all of her life, she moved to Thomas in 1994, to be near her daughter. Known as the best mom, grandmother and great grandmother in the world, Marie loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Fishing with her mom and dad and her sister Sybil, working with her flowers and plants and gardening, sewing and doing crafts were some of her favorite pastimes. She also loved spending time with her family and visiting with friends.Marie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Edgar Newman, Oren Newman and Kenny Newman; her husband; one son-in-law, Keith Bennett and one grandson, Ron Wayne Rippetoe.
She is survived by two daughters, Loretta Yvonne (Bonnie) Bennett of LaPlace, Louisiana and Judy B. Ayers and husband Joe of Thomas, Oklahoma; one son, Wilford Wayne (Wink) Rippetoe and wife Anita of Ardmore; one sister, Sybil Rippetoe of Hollis; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Marie Rippetoe will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Justin Sampler officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
The family will greet friends at Harmon County Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2011, from 6 until 7 p.m.
