Cloetta Joy Johnson, age 73, of Hollis, passed away Monday afternoon, March 26, 2012, at Harmon Memorial Hospital, in Hollis. Mrs. Johnson was born on August 8, 1938, to Frankie and Oda (Tice) Castleman. After graduating from Arnett School in 1956, she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma for one year. On March 4, 1958 she married Bill Wayne Johnson. They spent forty-five wonderful years together before Bill’s death on November 1, 2003. After their marriage, they established their first home in Amarillo, Texas and moved to several Texas locations with Bill’s job before returning to Hollis in 1961. Cloetta was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing, gardening and selling watermelons.Preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by one daughter, Dee Ann Phillips of Hollis; three sons, David Johnson and wife Patricia of Hollis, Billy Don Johnson of Hollis and Joe Johnson and wife Teri of Hollis; seven grandchildren, Davida Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Matt Johnson, Randelyon Phillips and Charles Atkins, Shacy Woods and husband Derek, and Chisum Johnson; eight great grandchildren, Kayden Johnson, Kayana Johnson, Khole Johnson, Dante Bell Atkins, Alyssa Atkins, Drew Woods, Sage Woods and Hensley Woods along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Cloetta Johnson will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Hollis Church of Christ with Bruce Sexton and Charles Terry officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
