Mario Hector Herrera

Mario Hector Herrera, age 53 of Hollis, passed away late Saturday night, August 4, 2012, at Harmon Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Herrera was born on March 8, 1959, in Alice, Texas to Alonso and Lydia (Herrera) Sosa. Moving to Hollis as a young boy, he was adopted by his grandparents, Bartolo and Paula Herrera, in 1966. After attending Hollis School through the eleventh grade, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and served for the next eight years. Mario was a mechanic by trade and also worked on cotton gins in the area. With several disabilities from a car wreck in 1984, Mario continued working on motors and cars as his health allowed. On April 4, 2010, he married Diana Cantu and their wonderful life together was cut short by his untimely death. Besides working on cars, Mario enjoyed waking his friends up in the morning, fishing, watching western movies, drinking Coca-Cola, eating honey buns and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his biological parents; his adopted parents; one brother, Amador Pena and a step sister, Angelita Rangel, he is survived by his wife, Diana Herrera, of the home; four daughters, Michelle Stallings and husband Jason of Enid, Janelle Daniels and husband Logan of Chickasha, Jennifer Herrera and friend Leo Hernandez of Enid and Selena Herrera of Hollis; five sons, Mario “Bubba” Herrera, Jr. and wife Jacqueline of Enid, Matthew Herrera and wife Crystal of Dallas, Texas, Joseph “Jay” Renteria of Dallas, Texas, Carlos “Boo Boo” Herrera and wife Sheridan of Hollis and Kathan “KK” Herrera of Hollis; four step children, April Vasquez and husband Jesse of Hollis, Roddy Rodriquez of Altus, Tiffany Rodriquez of Hollis and Jessica Cooler and husband Jason of Hollis; sixteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Ismael “Smiley” Herrera and wife Alice, Victor Sosa and wife Fannie, and Freddie Sosa Ragel; twelve sisters, Amelia Resindez, Loupe San Miguel, Eva Sena, Zeneida Medina, Alice Saseda, Patty Herrera, Geneva Aldaco, Vicky Hernandez, Josie Walser, Lucy Walser, Jela Mireles and Mary Luna along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mario Herrera will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012, at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Reyes officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
The family will greet friends from 5 until 6 p.m, on Wednesday, August 8, 2010, at Harmon County Funeral Home.
