William "Bill" Martin Fancher
Jul 16, 1925 - Mar 21, 2014
Posted by Jo Aguirre

Harmon County Funeral Home

Born on July 16, 1925 to O. R. and Pearl Fancher from Olustee, Oklahoma. One of 10 children, Bill is survived by two brothers & three sisters… Kay, Sid, Paula, Sue, Mary & departed are Boyd, Linda, Wilma & Theda. His surviving children are Greg Fancher of Olympia Wa, Denise Tull of Edmond Ok & Gwen Schryver of Canyon City Co including 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.

Bill enlisted in the Navy during WWII & served in the Philippines. Returning from the war, he enrolled in the University of Oklahoma’s Law program. After graduating from OU he settled in Altus, Oklahoma for a short period of time before moving to Hollis Ok where he resided with his wife Jennella (Setliff) Fancher. He settled into a private law practice in Hollis for the majority of his career. His career was robust as he moved from his private practice to District Attorney & ultimately an Assistant District Judge.

He was well suited to the rural farming community and called it home until his wife passed away in June 16, 2006. His love for people will bring many memories to those who knew him. Active in the First Baptist Church of Hollis… he counselled many during their trials of life.

His later years were filled with unexpected travels when he moved to California. Sitting on the beaches of Southern Orange County & bowling 3 consecutive games, at age 84, on Camp Pendleton’s Marine Base were some of the most memorable moments. Ultimately moving to the Olympia Washington area where he lived out his final days with his son Gregory Fancher. His favorite times there were walking around historic sites of the Puget Sound and driving through the majestic Douglas Fir trees.

His general good health kept him active until late September of 2013. Following a series of medical events his strength began to decline and finally congestive heart failure took him in his sleep on Saturday, March 21st, 2014 at 7:30am. He was 88 years old when he passed.
He left impressions on all whom crossed his path. The staff of the last medical facility he entered lined the halls during his exit to say… Good-bye Judge, Good-bye Bill, Good-bye my friend… his last words to them… “I Love You All & it’s not Puppy Love”
