Della Ruth Bynum, age 85, of McLoud, formerly of Hollis passed
away May 3, 2012, in the home of Steve and Carolyn Floyd, who
opened their hearts and loving home to help care for her.
Della Ruth Bynum was born to Zella Mae (Brewer) Bynum and W.
Hendrix Bynum on September 24, 1926. She graduated from Arnett
High School in 1944. Ruth retired in 1989 after 39 years of work
in the Harmon County Treasurer Office. The last 13 years she
served as treasurer. She was a treasurer for the Salvation Army
Harmon County Service Unit board for 15 years and the Hollis
Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a Charter Member. She was a
member of the Hollis Nazarene Church, where she served as the
Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer. Ruth was also a
member of the Retired Officers and Deputies Association for the
State of Oklahoma. She loved The Church of the Nazarene and her
extended family. Ruth also loved all sports and was a BIG
Thunder fan. She made many quilts and loved to make different
types of crafts.
Aunt Ruth (Ruthie) is survived by 2 nieces and a nephew. Carolyn
Floyd and husband Steve; Dona Opitz and husband Quintin; Doug
Bynum and wife Tammy; 6 great nephews Adam Scott, Michael Scott
and wife Kathleen, Dustin Floyd, Talon Floyd, Levi Opitz and
wife Missy, and Wesley Brogdin; 2 great nieces Mandi Howell and
husband Jerry, and Sheridan Bynum; 1 great-great nephew Colin
Opitz; 4 great-great nieces Samantha Karlin, Sydney Karlin,
Nalaya Herrera, and Bailey Scott. Close cousin Althea Smith and
best friend Arena Sue and husband Bobby Littrell, numerous
cousins and friends, and also dear friend Tillie Long.
She is
preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald R Bynum and
sister-in-law Lillie Mae Bynum.
Funeral services for Ruth Bynum will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, May
6, 2012, at the Hollis Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jim
Fishback officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount
Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of
Hollis.
