Jon Burns, age 53, a long-time resident of Hollis, Oklahoma,
passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Hollis.
Jon was born in Hollis on June 17, 1966 to his parents Douglas Burns and
Virginia (Branch) Burns. Jon was born and raised in Hollis where he graduated
from Hollis High School and he went on to earn his associate's degree at Altus
Junior College and he studied agriculture at Northwestern Oklahoma State
University in Alva. Jon was a farmer and rancher and he enjoyed rodeos and calf
roping. He served on the Hollis volunteer fire department and was also a past
member of the Hollis School Board.
Preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his sister, Tonya
Louise Cummins; and nephew Brandon Nash;
Jon is survived by his
mother, Virginia Burns of Hollis; two daughters, Bayli and Shelbi; one sister,
Pamela Burns of Mangum; nephew Jeremy Ayers of Washington D.C.; as well as
numerous other family members and many friends.
Graveside services will be at 8:00 am on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Fairmount
Cemetery in Hollis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis,
Oklahoma.
