Julie Annette Boatwright, age 67, of Hollis, passed away Monday,
June 10, 2013, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus,
Oklahoma.
Julie was born in Vallejo, California on January 6, 1946, to
Peewee and Hattie (Holder) Sanders. Julie completed her high
school education at Hollis, Oklahoma. After high school, she
went to Southwestern University, where she graduated with a
Master’s degree in English, and later received her certification
in Special Education. Julie started her teaching career at
Choctaw, Oklahoma where she met and married Jim Boatwright. She
would later go on to teach at Hollis, Loyal, Sayre, Duke,
Anadarko, Riverside and Eldorado. Along with teaching English
and Special Education, she helped many individuals obtain their
GED. For a time, Julie worked at Boing, where she was a flight
plan analyst. In her free time, Julie enjoyed reading and
helping children, but most of all, spending time with her grand
and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her step-dad, Barney Prosser and her husband.
Julie is survived by her daughter Julianne Birdwell and husband Rip of Hollis; three grandchildren, Brandon Robertson and wife Nana of Altus, Kaelin Robertson of Altus and Tyler Birdwell of Hollis; two great grandchildren, Braylen Robertson and Kaedin Santos; aunt Monette; special friends, Dorothy Davis, Cheri Nugent, Pam Dodson, Melissa Warren, Rowena Brock, Pat Robertson, Jana Goodman, Gaynelle McGee, Jackie Ballou, Darla Fishback and Jane Green along with many other relatives and close friends.
