Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep at 6:30 a.m.
February 14, 2014, Valentine's Day, one of her
favorite holidays. Dad was waiting for her in heaven
and she made it for their 78th wedding anniversary
which was February 16th. What a celebration they
had! Bennie "Jean" Upton was born June 1, 1919 in
Harmon County, OK to Charles and Mary (McGraw)
Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by the
love of her life, Jesse Thomas Upton, one brother,
C.E. Palmer and wife Ilene, three sisters; Melba and
husband O.V. Pringle, Nadyne and husband Jack
Harbour, Jonnie and husband Oris Hammonds.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy and husband
Loyd Stephens and Janelle Hale all of Bartlesville.
She was blessed with three grandsons, nine great
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jean was a longtime member of the United Methodist
Church and a current member of East Cross United
Methodist. She has been an active member of United
Methodist Women for over 65 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to East
Cross United Methodist Women, 600 Madison,
Bartlesville, OK 74006.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday,
February 17, 2014 in the Dryden Cemetery in Hollis,
OK with Reverend Chad Perceful of East Cross United
Methodist Church officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of
Walker-Brown Funeral Home. Online condolences for
