Brenda Ann Anderson, age 65, of Hollis, passed away late Tuesday
evening, June 10, 2014, at OU Medical Center, in Oklahoma City.
Brenda was born in Watsonville, California on May 18, 1949, to
Walter T. and Ila Mendy (Jones) Anderson. Beginning her life in
Watsonville, California, Brenda moved to Amarillo, Texas as a
young child and later to Borger, Texas where she graduated high
school, in 1968. She later attended Frank Phillips College in
Borger and graduated with an associate degree. Brenda worked for
a short time as a secretary with a chemical company and then
moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she served as a secretary for a
swimming pool company. After a short time in Las Vegas, she
moved to Hollis, in the early 1970’s and worked as a dispatcher
with the Hollis Police Department for twelve years. After
leaving the police department, Brenda served as the church
secretary for the First Baptist Church for fifteen years, until
her health began to decline, in 2011. Brenda loved everyone and
was equally loved, always having a hug to give. Church was her
life and she loved spending her spare time studying her Bible,
reading books and doing crochet and needlepoint.
Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elmer Thomas
Anderson and Bill Anderson; one sister, Mendy Anderson and one
nephew, David Lewis.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Shaver
of Erick, Oklahoma and Shirley Lammers of Las Vegas, Nevada; one
brother, Jimmy Anderson and wife Deborah of Hollis; five
nephews, Denzil Lewis, Thomas Husband, Richard Ray, Denzil
Anderson and Daniel Anderson; four nieces, Sherri Trevathan,
Terri Miranda, Lori Becker and Samantha Burrows along with many
great nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Brenda Anderson will be at 3 p.m.,
Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Hollis First Baptist Church with
Pastor Tim Tutton officiating. Interment will follow at the
Dryden Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral
Home of Hollis.
