Jo Ann Seymour (Ware) died peacefully On May 8, 2026, at her residence in Edmond, OK. She was 94 years of age and she lived a life of strength, devotion and family.


Jo Ann was raised near Ladessa, OK and attended Centralvue High School where she graduated in 1951. After graduation, Jo Ann went to Cameron University and received her Associate's Degree, before going to Oklahoma A&M where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education. Later in 1976 she went back to school and received her Vocational Home Economics Degree.

Jo Ann began her work career in 1952 in Kincade, KS as a Vocational Home Economics teacher. On April 18, 1957 she married Herman Seymour at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK, and to this union two daughters were born, Cynthia and Susan. Jo Ann followed Herman as he worked for the OSU Cooperative Extension Service. She spent the next 30 years teaching as a Vocational Home Economics teacher in Garfield County, Kiowa County, Roger Mills County and finally Beckham County where they stayed before retiring to Delhi, OK. One of Jo Ann's most exciting accomplishments as a young teacher was to take a group of girls to the FHA National Conference, where one of the young ladies was elected President of the National FHA Association.

JoAnn's greatest love was teaching. In 1987, Jo Ann was named Outstanding Home Economics Teacher of the Year. She was an exceptional teacher. Jo Ann wanted her students to have practical and valuable skills necessary to be successful in life. In 1988, she retired but continued teaching both adults and youth outside the classroom. Whether in the public school system, adult craft workshops, or small youth sewing groups, Jo Ann loved to teach.

Jo Ann was an active woman's Sunday School teacher for over 20 years at First Baptist Church in Sayre. She would spend hours reading and studying resources in preparation for the lesson. She encouraged the participants to ask questions and develop a greater understanding of the Bible. Her main purpose was to help each individual grow their faith in Jesus Christ and develop a personal relationship with Him.

Jo Ann wanted to be remembered as a "straight shooter" always telling the truth, standing behind her word and never asking anyone to do something she wasn't willing to do herself. If you were very close to Jo Ann you knew she had high expectations, strong work ethics and a sense of humor. She wanted everyone to excel and do things right the first time. Her legacy was one of dedication, loyalty, humor and love for her family. She was just intimidating enough to keep you honest and striving for the best.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Coy Seymour; her parents, Rufus & Beatrice Ware; and a sister, Pansy Crow.


She is survived by daughters and their husbands, Cynthia Ann and Mike Klumpp, and their daughter Elizabeth Grace and husband, Pierce McLaughlin of Edmond, OK, Susan Lynn and Jerry Moffat, their sons, Coy John Pfeiffer and Caitlin and Conrad James Moffat. Grandchildren Casey Herman and Cohan Charles Pfeiffer, son's of Coy and Caitlin all of Lexington, OK. Jean Stamey and Britt Ballard of Oklahoma City; Sister's In-Laws, Claudine Gilliam of Hobart, Sondra & Jerry Luck of Hollis, and Debbie Jackson of Mangum.


In lieu of flowers, make donations to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children or Oklahoma State 4-H Foundation.
