Lattie Oleta Tedford, age 91, of Waco, Texas, formerly of Greer County,
passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Crestview Nurshing Home, in Waco,
Texas.
Oleta was born February 3, 1924, to Thomas Butler and Maude (Duncan) Lance, in
Marshall, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Winston Parker “Jack”
Tedford, on January 23, 1943, in Granite, Oklahoma. They made their home in
Willow, Oklahoma and Oleta worked beside Jack in the cotton fields, caretakers
of the Willow Cemetery, cook at the Willow Café, cleaned houses and other odd
jobs that needed to be done. In 1971, they sold their home in Willow and moved
to Mangum. After Jack’s death on November 14, 1982, Oleta moved to Texas to be
closer to her daughter. Oleta later moved back to Mangum so she could be closer
to her friends and church. As her health began to fail, she once again moved to
Texas to be with her daughter and was there at the time of her passing.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven brothers and four sisters,
she is survived by her daughter, Joyce Ann Bryant and husband Jay of Waco,
Texas; grandsons, Phillip Wilson and wife Julie of Waco, Robbie Bryant and
fiancé Erica Roberson of Cibolo, Texas and Jeremy Bryant and wife Victoria of
Waco, Texas; great grandchildren, Alena, Erin, Alex, Jaxson and Jett;
sisters-in-law, Betty Tedford, Ellen Tedford and Emma Tedford and several nieces
and nephews.
Graveside services for Oleta Tedford will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 1,
2015, at the Willow Cemetery with Ken Hamilton officiating. Services are under
the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
